Our Group

We meet in the Queens Head in Rothbury either in the community room or in the lounge/restaurant. The venue is kindly provided free of charge so to reciprocate and support the Queens Head please purchase a drink from the bar first! During the summer months the meetings are held at 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. From the autumn through to the spring we meet at 7pm on the 2nd Monday and at 3pm on the 4th Monday.

Members bring games with them that they particularly enjoy and people decide at each session which ones they would like to play. We would prefer games that can be completed in under 2 hours! Games played so far include backgammon, Rummikub, Azul, Carcassone, Codename, Tri-Onimos, Mah Jong, Scrabble, Bananagram, Articulate and Cranium. From time to time we may have themed sessions e.g. word games or strategy games and recently we held a special evening learning the ancient Chinese game of Go. The Group Coordinator is keen on backgammon and is very happy to teach anyone who has never played before.
